The Experience

You will remain fully clothed, except for socks and shoes and rest comfortably on a
massage table

Typically visits last 30 to 60 minutes

Lotions or powder may be applied to aid the practitioner

Reflex points, which relate to all parts of the body, can be found in the feet, hands and ears.

These points respond to pressure, stimulating the body's own natural healing process.

This treatment is gentle and non-invasive

Health Benefits

The body starts progressively clearing blockages, re-establishing energy flows and balancing itself, resulting in better health

Recommended for stress related disorders such as lower back pain, chronic indigestion, headaches, and high blood pressure

It also assists with emotional disorders such as addictive behavior, sexual dysfunction and overeating

Following treatment, recipients often feel more alert, creative and vital

The RRCO Mandate

Register reflexology practitioners, teachers, educational organizations and methodologies that meet established minimum standards.

Maintain the highest ethical standard of the profession and to the public.

Establish Reflexology as a self-governing profession.

Act as the unified voice for Reflexology in the province of Ontario.

History

In most ancient cultures there is a tradition of working on the feet to help the body balance itself. Although no one culture is given sole credit for its development, Egypt, India, China and Native American Indian cultures have practiced reflexology of some form for thousands of years.

In the early 1900s, Dr. William H. Fitzgerald developed Zone Therapy, the modern precursor to reflexology. Eunice Ingham, Physiotherapist, evolved this work into the basic principles and techniques for modern day reflexology.
